If yes, your experiences are all very common with someone who needs dental assistance to achieve a healthier, more attractive smile.

The questions most people ask are:

  • Where do I start?
  • Will this be painful?
  • Is this going to take a long time?
  • How much will this process cost?
  • Does this mean I have to be at the dentist all the time?

Finding a clear answer and making a decision that is best for you and your health shouldn't be so disorienting, confusing and time-consuming. We're here to help answer these questions and equip you with knowledge that can help you determine what feels right for your circumstance.

At Meyer Dental Group, we believe that coming to this conclusion should be direct, easy and comfortable. Dr. Tom Meyer has over 25 years of experience, including orthodontic treatment.

With his robust experience, Dr. Meyer has helped many patients feel confident, proud and happier with their new straight teeth.

What are SureSmile®
Clear Aligners?

SureSmile Clear Aligners Mount Prospect Il

SureSmile® aligners are clear, removable orthodontics that are made to correct bite misalignments, straighten crooked teeth to help level up your confidence so you can wear your smile with pride!

Each set of aligners are made with advanced digital scanning technology. The 3D images of your teeth are used to design a powerful, transparent plastic mold shaped to shift your teeth into the right place. They are sent to SureSmile®'s digital labs where their Orthodontics specialists then convert your images into a printed aligner ready for wear.

SureSmile® aligners resemble a mouth guard but are made with different materials for long-term wearability, comfort and with the goal of realigning your smile. They do not include any metal brackets or wires.

How do SureSmile®
Clear Aligners work?

Each set of SureSmile® Clear Aligners exert a slight force onto your teeth to slowly shift your teeth into a better position over time. You will make regular visits to see Dr. Meyer for aligners adjustments to ensure that enough pressure is still being used to achieve a full, beautiful smile.

Depending on the complexity of your case, this process can be quicker than traditional metal orthodontic devices. Without the wires and metal brackets, you can still snack on your favorite meals without worrying about damaging the aligners or taking forever to clean them out!

Clear aligners have also been found to be far less painful or headache-inducing as opposed to traditional orthodontic devices.

Benefits of getting
SureSmile® Clear Aligners

Besides gaining a smile you are more confident about, having straighter, healthier teeth offer so many more great benefits to your over-all health.

Crooked or crowded teeth are often difficult to clean, increasing your risk of cavities and decay. They also increase your risk of developing gum disease, which in extreme cases can lead to tooth loss.

If you have crooked and crowding teeth, your bite is likely out of alignment, meaning that your top and bottom teeth do not meet in an optimal stacked position.

Bite misalignment can also occur without uneven teeth in the form of an underbite or overbite due to other structural issues in your mouth. Regardless, this can cause a lot of pain in your jaw joints and even lead to developing Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ).

TMJ is a condition that can not only trigger overwhelming headaches, nausea and wear on your jaw joints, but it can also lead to the grating and breaking of your teeth.

With the support of Dr. Meyer and your custom SureSmile® Clear Aligners, these issues can be prevented and leave you feeling happier and healthier.

How long do you wear SureSmile® Clear Aligners?

The overall treatment length of time that you will wear your aligners for can vary based on treatment needs and patient compliance.

SureSmile® suggests wearing your aligners for 20-22 hours a day to help create the quickest results. This means wearing them while you sleep at night.

Since each individual's case is unique, there isn't a definite timeline of how long your SureSmile® treatment will last. In general terms however, you will likely need to use them from 6 to 18 months.
