We Believe That…
You shouldn’t have to dread a visit to the dentist
You may think that a visit to the dentist could be a stressful experience and there is no doubt some people avoid doing it because they think they are going to endure pain. However, regular visits to your dentist can make a real difference to your overall health and well-being and treatment options have dramatically improved over the years. We believe that visiting the dentist today is not as bad as you may have thought.
Here at the Meyer Dental Group, we offer a variety of general dental treatment options, such as crowns, bridges, root canals and fillings. These are all ways that help to restore a pleasing and healthy appearance to your face and smile.
General dental treatments that help your oral health
What can a dental crown do for you?
A dental crown is a “cap” that is fixed into place over a tooth that has lost its full use. It restores not only its appearance but its size, shape and strength too. The crown fully encases the visible part of a tooth up to the gum line. It offers protection to a weak tooth; restores the appearance and use of a broken tooth and covers and supports a tooth which has a large filling, as well as concealing the appearance of distorted or discolored teeth. If a dental implant has been inserted, a crown can be fixed on top of it. Dental crowns are tooth colored porcelain or metal fused with porcelain.
Bridges that help to fill a gap
Dental bridges do what the name implies: they bridge the gap that has occurred due to a missing tooth. A bridge is normally composed of two crowns fitted onto the two teeth on both sides of the gap. A false tooth is fitted between them which we at Meyer Dental can construct from alloys, gold or porcelain or even a combination of these materials. We believe a bridge is a way to restore your smile and enables you to speak and chew normally. It also helps to keep your face shape and prevents remaining teeth from moving.
Fillings that are tooth colored
We use fillings at Meyer Dental to fill a cavity that has formed from tooth decay. We also use them to repair broken or cracked teeth and worn teeth. Before a tooth is filled, the cavity must be opened up to remove any decay that is present. Once removal is complete, we will get the space ready for accepting a filling by removing all debris and bacteria. Once the filling is in place it will be finished and polished. We can fill a tooth with a composite resin filling, plastic that is tooth colored or a material that is made up of glass particles referred to as glass ionomer. What we do is ensure that the filling is disguised in your mouth.
How you can save your teeth with a root canal
Root canals are a treatment we offer at the Meyer Dental Group which repairs and helps to save a badly infected or decayed tooth. We perform root canal therapy when a tooth’s nerve has been damaged or is infected, Both the pulp and the nerve are removed, the cavity is cleaned and filled and sometimes we fit a crown so that the tooth looks as good as new. It does take a couple of visits to our dentist but is well worth it as it avoids extraction.
Restoring is better than extraction
We believe our general dental treatments offer the best way to keep your original teeth and make any newly added teeth look natural. They will help to restore your smile and your relationships with your friends and work colleagues.
Here’s why it’s not so bad
We firmly believe that a visit to the dentist is not always a walk in the park, nor do we claim that it always is. However, the risks and consequences associated with avoiding dental visits shouldn’t be an option when you want to lead a long, healthy life. Stay healthy, look great, sleep better, avoid pain, and live longer.
