Crowns

Crowns are one of the best solutions for bringing your tooth back to a healthy state. A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that is placed over your tooth to restore its shape, size or strength and improve its appearance. When crowns are cemented into place in your mouth, they fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line, enhancing the aesthetic beauty of your smile.
There could be several reasons why you may need a crown, such as:
Dr. Meyer’s concept of "active-partner" care will truly give you a better understanding of your treatment, and you will be confident that your decision and investment in your smile is the right choice to make!
At the Meyer Dental Group in Des Plaines, Illinois, the technology of custom-designing crowns unique to your individual smile is precisely aided by the advanced leading-edge technology of CEREC® AC Powered by Bluecam. With this state of the art machine, Dr. Meyer can visualize on a computer display what the crown should look like, fitting your smile exactly and naturally. The Bluecam is non-invasive to and allows you to remain completely comfortable and relaxed while you see on the screen what the doctor is seeing in your mouth.
Dr. Meyer and his assistants can specially construct your crown in the same appointment! There is no need to go home with annoying loose-fitting temporaries because you can walk out with your new CEREC® made crown the same day. You will have little to no gum irritation after the crown is expertly placed by Dr. Meyer, allowing your gum tissue to heal faster than you would have healed with traditional crown procedures of the past.
The ceramic material used by the CEREC® AC Powered by Bluecam to mill your crown is made of ‘pressed’ porcelain – it’s stronger and more durable than the porcelain used by most dental labs. The properties of the ceramic composite material will leave no unsightly metal appearance around the gum line or stain your gums like inferior metal crowns will. The best part is the crown is fired in a special kiln to exact specifications and all of this happens right in the office of Dr. Meyer while you wait.
The whole process from imaging your smile with the Bluecam, to milling your crown at the CEREC® milling station, to firing your new restoration in the kiln is an interactive experience at the Meyer Dental Group. Dr. Meyer invites your involvement in every step of your care. Not only will you see exactly what your crown will look like through advanced zoomed-in digital imaging on the video monitor screen, but you’ll instantly recognize that the high resolution pictures give Dr. Meyer the best diagnostic view of your treatment.
Our team is on-hand to answer any questions you may have about this service. Your enhanced smile can be one convenient visit away, with a CEREC® crown by Dr. Meyer.
