Our newest addition

For those who have not met our newest assistant at Meyer Dental Group, we would like to tell you a little about Stacey.  She became part of the Meyer Dental family in the beginning of July and has been a great asset to our office.  Stacey started dental assisting at the tender age of 16 years while attending school at Stevenson.  After high school, she attended Harper College.  She continued assisting in general dentistry until she started her family in 1991.  She returned to dentistry in 2002.  Stacey is a newlywed and has extended her family with five wonderful teenagers.

Her warm smile and gentle personality are sure to shine through at “hello.”  She is just as excited to be here as we are to have her.

Do you want to step up your game?!?!

Do you want to get ahead of the game?  Dr. Meyer is now certified to provide the Pure Power Mouthguard™ which is designed to improve strength and balance during physical activities.  Whether you are looking to improve your balance, more strength, or a higher vertical leap, the PPM mouthguard can help you achieve your potential!  This type of mouthguard is used by athletes of a variety of sports from golf, hockey, basketball, football, to even tennis, rugby, bodybuilding and many more!

The PPM™ is based on the concept of neuromuscular dentistry.  Neuromuscular dentistry was developed by Dr. Bernard Jankelson to improve jaw and muscle alignment by incorporating the muscles, nerves, and supporting structures of the mouth to enhance your physical ability.

As a PPM™ certified dentist, Dr. Meyer will be able to determine the best possible jaw position using computerized tracking of your jaw.  Once your facial muscles are in position, your PPM™ is fitted.  By wearing your PPM™, your muscles are in the most relaxed position giving you the best bite along with added benefits of improved balance, and increased upper body strength.

To put your game face on this summer and find out more about if you can benefit from the Pure Power Mouthguard™, contact our office for a PPM™ consultation.

The Oddyssey Diode Laser Education Course

This past weekend Fran and I had the opportunity to attend a wonderful continuing education seminar.  It was a 2-day seminar hosted by IvoclarVivadent, who makes the new Odysser Diode laser that we just introduced into the office.  It is a great new asset to the office that furthers the advanced treatment procedures that we can do here at The Meyer Dental Group. Soft tissue debridement for treating periodontal disease, removal of canker sores, absolutely precise and pain-free gum recontouring, and frenectomy–just to mention a few of the options.

It is a great addition to our advanced technology options and high-quality dental care that we offer all of our patients here at the office.

Off to Orlando for ICCMO seminar

My first official blog posting reporting that I am soon heading off to Orlando, Florida for an ICCMO seminar October 26-28th.   The International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics (ICCMO) is a society of health care professionals who have a common interest in the anatomy and physiology of occlusion, jaw function and orthopedics dysfunction with resultant symptoms in the head and neck.

I am excited to announce my induction as official Secretary for the North American branch of the ICCMO organization.  This will take place at this seminar, as well as my first lecture to other doctors.  I will be doing a presentation on the full mouth reconstruction case I did on Fran, our hygienist.  I will show the approach we used to not only get Fran out of pain with neuromuscular dentistry, but to greatly enhance her facial smile cosmetically!
You can see Fran’s before/afters in the photo gallery on the website. She is case #4.  It is truly amazing to see the transformation and read her testimonial.  See you when I get home from Orlando….
